Question: Any anime series worth watching around this time?
Answer: There are actually a lot of anime series currently airing around this time that have the notoriety or interest making them worth watching and here are just some of them. We’re going to give a slight background to each without spoiling too much.
Sword Art Online 2
Sword Art Online 2 just aired two weeks ago and is still in episode 2. This is SAO’s second series which focuses on a new game called Gun Gale Online. Kirito once again makes a comeback as the mai character along with the new lead female character Sinon. Don’t worry about Asuna though because if they are following the series source then she should be getting a main role as the series progresses but for now we’re stuck with a Sinon and Kirito pairing. SAO 2 ironically will be heavily focusing on guns and high tech stuff.
Sailor Moon Crystal
If you were a fan of the mid 90’s adaptation then you’ll love the Sailor Moon Crystal. They said that this series will be a reboot of the 90’s adaptation. In fact they stated that this series will follow the manga story making it a bit darker and more interesting in a sense. The whole gang is back again with Usagi the Sailor Moon in full frontal along with her Sailor sisters. The art style is also different with the characters looking a bit more like their manga counterparts and that’s always good. The series just aired two weeks ago as well so you don’t need to catch up a lot.
Tokyo Ghoul
The series also aired two weeks ago and is already getting a lot of hype. If you’re a fan with a lot of blood, gore and violence then this anime is for you. This series is set in modern day Japan where a boy named Ken receives an organ donation from a ghoul. A ghoul is capable of staying in human form but they have the insatiable sensation to feed on human flesh. It is a bloody anime and not everyone may be able to appreciate it but is it worth the hype?
Mobile Suit Gundam San
Unicorn just ended and the wait for Gundam the Origins has started but there’s always room for some comedy. If you are a Gundam fan then this series is something to watch out. It is by far one of the shortest running episodic series which only runs for 3 minutes each but the content is good. Mobile Suit Gundam San is like a parody and comedy of the Gundam universe specifically during the UC timeline. It’s good for laughs and intrigue if you don’t take it so seriously.
There are a lot of anime series to look out for this quarter but if you want to know more, just look up for Summer Anime 2014 and you’ll find a lot of titles.
