Set in a world where magic is as common as breathing, everyone is able to do magic to a certain degree. However, every person has a different degree of magic and a set number of times allowed to perform magic. On an average, most people can do a hundred spells throughout their lifespan whilst in more rare cases, some can even do a thousand. A person’s social standing actually determines the person’s social standing. If by chance a person uses up all his/her magic, his or her body will whither away and turn to ash.
The story revolves around Kazuki Shinomori, a second year student at an elite Magic Academy, the Aoi Academy. Said to be of the lowest class in the social pecking order, he is only able to perform magic eight times before his body turns to dust. In all actuality, he is a descendant of the infamous and world’s greatest magicians known throughout the world. Despite his low spell count, they believe his offspring has the potential to become a very powerful magician. Hence the battle for his genes started. To make matters worse, Yuna Miyama turns up at his dorm room and proclaims she is his future wife. And eventually, Kuriko Kazetusbaki and Rin Kamishiro joins in the fray with the former wanting his all-so powerful genes while the latter trying to kill him to escape an obligation that forces her to marry him. Eventually, they fell in love with his quirkiness and in time they felt the need to stop Kazuki from using his spells. Though despite their feeble attempts, Kazuki ends up using his spells on each girl. Despite his low spell count, he is able to perform great magic spells considered to be epic events. He is able to perform powerful magic strong enough to even achieve miracles. It didn’t take long before Kazuki used his last spell to save Yuna from a magical retrovirus and he eventually turned to dust with his remains scattered in the winds. Determined to bring him back, they start collecting pieces of Kazuki only to find out it was missing a few pieces. They later discovered that deep in heart, they have kept a piece of Kazuki. Even knowing that restoring his body might wipe out his memories, they still restored his body without hesitation. Will they be able to restore his body and will he be able to remember them?
