We’ll continue with our look into the different characters of the Samurai Sentai Shinkenger series.
Genta grew up with Takeru as his best friend. Genta used to annoy Takeru with his training when he was younger. This of course brought a bit of trouble for Genta as he was constantly scolded for doing so. Genta left the Shiba house along with his father who was a sushi chef to pursue their own endeavors. Genta returns to the Shiba house to fight alongside Takeru with the Gold Zushi which turns him into Shinken Gold. Genta is fun loving and carefree but he still respects Takeru in a way. The other members not knowing him were a bit doubtful at first but they eventually take him in as one of their own. It’s also interesting to note that most sixth Sentai members are perceived as loners or bad ass ones whereas Genta comes off as whimsical and goofy in a way but he is capable in fighting.
Kaoru is the true heir to the Shiba house which is revealed in the course of the series. Takeru is seemingly standing in as one of Kaoru’s most loyal servants. This was needed to be done so that Kaoru would be protected from the Gedoushu as she is not a capable fighter like most of the clan members. She does possess the power to seal the Gedoushu members as she has been training for years in the art. Kaoru is very kind and doesn’t want any of her subordinates to risk her life for her but they do anyway because it’s their role.
Hikoma is the mentor of the Shinkengers. He was the one that trained Takeru in the art of sword fighting when he was just young. He also acts like a father figure to them with their relationships running deep. Hikoma can be strict when it comes to their training but he doesn’t push them over the edge. He also has a good sense of humor when it’s needed. Hikoma was also the one who chose the members of the Shinkengers telling Takeru to recruit them. Whenever Hikoma has some time, he visits his wife’s grave and his daughter who lives with her grandmother.
We’ll now take a look at the enemies of the series which are the Gedoushu. The Gedoushu resides in the Sanzu River where they hide from humanity. They only come out to disrupt the flow of energy so that the river will not overflow. The Gedoushu is made up of yokais and ayakashis that have supernatural abilities and powers to wreak havoc in the human world.
Sadly we’ll get to know these Gedoushu members next time.
