We’ll now continue with our look into the different characters of the Samurai Sentai Shinkenger series. We’ll now take a look at the enemies of the series namely the Gedoushu.
Dokoku is the leader of the Gedoushu and an almighty ayakashi wielding the Rising Dragon Sword capable of cutting down almost anything. He is an ayakashi that has lived for thousands of years until he eventually gained power in his world leading the Gedoushu. Dokoku also has the power to seal his underlings if he feels the need to. He lost the fight against the seventeenth head of the Shiba house which then lit a fire in his body to take revenge. In his return in the series he vows to destroy the Shiba house first before anything else. He also wants to kill Takeru so that the Shiba house will crumble but of course that was him not knowing that Kaoru was the actual eighteenth head of the house. Dokoku can be really violent and has a very low temper when it comes to things.
Dayu is Dokoku’s right hand woman because she was once a human woman before she became an ayakashi. She still has her memories intact of being betrayed by the man he loved. This is why Dayu killed her lover along with his wife and the rest of the wedding guests strangely enough. Dayu is the only Gedoushu that Dokoku does not harm or spout harsh words provided that she remained loyal to him. Dayu is a proficient fighter in her own right but she doesn’t want to work with the other ayakashis because she thinks they’re disgusting seeing as she was once a human. Dayu also does a lot of the field work for Dokoku although she sometimes hesitates to harm some humans probably because she feels she is still one inside.
He is also referred to as Shitari of the Bones although he looks like a squid which ironically doesn’t have any bones. Shitari is an old and wise ayakashi that have lived near the Sanzu River for years. He serves Dokoku just as he revived from getting sealed. Shitari offers Dokoku the wisdom that he had acquired in years. He serves as the tactician for the Gedoushu coming up with various plans and strategies for their attacks. Even though most of his plans fail, Dokoku doesn’t get rid of him seeing as he has potential and value. Shitari also isn’t that good in terms of fighting which is why he is surrounded by his lackeys of ayakashis. He can use magic to fight but not an impressive level like other high ranking ayakashis.
We’ll continue to the last characters of the Shinkenger series next time.
