Let’s continue with our look into the remaining characters of the Samurai Sentai Shinkenger series.
Juzo was once a human who lived as a samurai. He was once one of the few who fought the ayakashis hundreds of years prior to the main story. He had enough of years of fighting until he decided to turn on his fellow men. He killed hundreds of men until he was corrupted by his blood lust. He later crossed the Sanzu River to become an ayakashi himself. Despite his allegiance to the Gedoushu, Juzo is a lone wolf not wanting to work with any of his comrades so to speak. He is a very effective fighter and assassin of the group but he easily gets bored in fighting. He finds Takeru to be rival or just probably someone to free him from his misery. He also manages to maintain his human form and being able to shift to his ayakashi form.
Akumaro is one of the generals serving Dokoku and the Gedoushu. He is a master of the Black Arts and he has the knack for inflicting pain on others even his fellow ayakashi and Gedoushu members. He is a bit of a masochist wanting to be hurt most of the time. He wants to feel death and to go to hell just for the life of it. He is searching for that one event where he faces death and extreme pain. He is one of the better and more effective generals of the group. He can also create his own minions called the Kirigami. He was also the one that gave Juzo his sword the Uramasa forged straight from the souls of Juzo’s family.
Manpuku was once a powerful ayakashi and was revived by Dokoku to eradicate the Shinkengers. One of Manpuku’s strong points was his massive ayakashi army. Dokoku only asked that he take care of the Shinkengers. Manpuku obliged and attempted to eliminate the Shinkengers. He was nearly successful seeing as the team was nearly defeated. Manpuku himself is calm when operating. He doesn’t easily get enraged and he is focused at what he is doing. Then again his negligence still left him getting sealed by Kaoru with the combined efforts of the Shinkengers.
The Nanashi are the grunts for this series. They appear to be in humanoid forms sporting some very monster like faces. They are adept at fighting as well as being armed with a sword. They are still your typical cannon fodder enemies made to look the heroes stronger.
That concludes our look into the Shinkenger series. Next time we’ll take a look at its follow up which is was titled Tensou Sentai Goseiger.
